Luke Littler makes it FOUR Premier League nightly wins with 6-1 thumping of rival Luke Humphries – as teen makes historical past in Newcastle

  • The 18-year-old has been in sensational form since claiming the world title
  • Humphries was powerless to stop the teen’s onslaught at the oche on Thursday
  • Littler is now eight points clear at the top of the table, with Humphries second

Luke Littler put in another commanding performance as he beat Luke Humphries to win his fourth night of the Premier League Darts season in Newcastle.

The teenage prodigy, 18, has been in superb form following his World Darts Championship triumph and continued his dominance with victory over Humphries in the final on Thursday.

Littler began the evening with a 6-0 rout of Stephen Bunting, before despatching Rob Cross 6-3 in the semi-final.

In his sixth final, Littler showed no mercy against Humphries, who the star had previously beaten 6-5 in Glasgow, to cement place at the summit of the rankings on 26 points.

Humphries sits some way off in second on 18, and Littler was keen in the aftermath to stress that success is becoming second nature to him.

‘It’s another week, more points on the board and another nightly win,’ Littler told Sky Sports.

‘Now I’m sitting even more comfortably at the top and there are loads of points ahead. I’m settled even more coming into the next weeks.’

Littler was greeted by boos from the crowd ahead of his meeting with Bunting, but had to deal with more than just hostility to claim the hard-fought win.

‘I said to Luke there, I don’t know how we played that game, we were both tired, but that’s what happens when you have to play three games in a night, you can get tired, but I’m just glad that I dug myself over the line,’ Littler added.

‘As a player you should always be playing against the board, but I’m playing too well for them not to be playing against the board as well as me. I’ve got a few of them, just not Gezzy (Price).

‘Even when I came down to the bottom of the stairs, I was tired, I didn’t want to come up here, but it’s another trophy and it was another two points on the line.’

During the semi-final, Littler – who was watched by Newcastle players including Dan Burn and Kieran Trippier – also threw his way into history, making his century of maximums in just eight weeks, reaching the milestone before any of his challengers have even hit 50.

The remainder of the Premier League pack will seek to knock him off his perch at the tournament’s next outing in Berlin next week.
