A child is one of three victims killed in the fire at at a historic grade II-listed former station master’s house, neighbors have revealed.
Fire crews found three dead bodies as they were damping down the flames which engulfed a house in Beswick Close in Rushton, near Kettering, late last night.
The fire was so severe, the roof caved in.
Police, fire and ambulance services were called at around 10.30pm on Friday to reports of a large blaze at the property.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, three people were later confirmed by Northamptonshire Police to have died.
Three police officers were also sent to hospital for treatment after breathing in acrid smoke at the scene.
Officers have released very few details about the fire, but it has not at this stage been ruled as suspicious.
The devastated house had been a Grade II-listed building and was the former station master’s home in Rushton.

It had been derelict but was recently completely renovated and is believed to now be a residential property.
Pictures of the scene show a large burned hole scorched through the roof at the 19th century property which was formerly the Glendon and Rushton railway station.
Post mortem examinations are to be carried out on the three victims’ bodies to ascertain the exact cause of their deaths.
No details of the identities or ages of the three victims have been given.
Rushton Parish Council vice chair Mike Brightman said: ‘It’s a very sad day for the village, losing some of our residents in such a horrific way.’
MP for Kettering Rosie Writing said she was ‘saddened’ by the incident in a post on X.
She wrote: ‘I am saddened by this tragic fire and my thoughts are with the family and friends of those involved and everyone in the Rushton community.
‘Thank you to the emergency services who attended the scene.’
Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service have now launched a probe following the fatal fire.
Northamptonshire Police said: ‘An investigation is underway after three people died following a house fire in Rushton, near Kettering.
‘At around 10.30pm last night (Fri), the police, fire and ambulance services were called to a property in Beswick Close following reports of a large fire.
‘Sadly, and despite the best efforts of the emergency services, three people were later confirmed to have died. Three police officers later required hospital assessment due to smoke inhalation.
‘Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service experts are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.’

Road closures remain in place this morning in Station Road between Desborough Road and Oakley Road, including roads off Station Road.
People have been asked to continue to avoid the area.
