Union Jack gear is cool once more as younger impressed by Geri Halliwell’s barely-there gown

Union Jack clothing is flying off the shelves as young people embrace everything red, white and blue.

Kate Moss was also regularly spotted in the flag, wearing it as a jumper, on the catwalk in 1993 and then reprising it for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. But the patriotic look is now being adopted by a new generation of fashion lovers who are sporting it on tights, hats, T-shirts and even underwear.
High end tailor Gresham Blake has also seen its Union Jackets flying off the shelves.
A post from the brand’s Instagram said: “We have been getting a lot of requests for our Union Flag jacket, mainly from abroad.
“Not sure why a sudden surge but happy for the business.
“Flags are all hand sewn in the UK and jackets are made in our London workshop.
“I have added ‘Rule Britannia’ for sake of tradition, not really sure what to make of the lyrics, but they are dated for sure.”
Designer Dilara Findikoglu even dressed singer Doja Cat in a Union Jack coat and corset for Wireless Festival last year.
Clothing company Waring Brooke has also released Union Jack socks, and young people say the style can be cool, if done right.
The Daily Star previously reported that fashionistas reckon Brits will go spotty in 2025 as polka dots are back in style.
Polka dots are now closely associated with Minnie Mouse, and the leader of the mountain stage in the Tour de France, who is handed a ‘king of the mountains’ polka dot jersey.
Among the celebs wearing polka dots recently include Olivia Rodrigo, Anna Wintour, Katy Perry, Margot Robbie and Zendaya.
Personal shopper and fashion guru Gina Rogers said that despite polka dots soaring in popularity, the wearer had to ‘put on a show of confidence’.
She said: “Polka dots are very much ‘look at me, look at me’ – you don’t get many shy and retiring sorts wearing them.
“They are definitely having a moment, but beware – it’s the kind of clothing that gets you noticed, so don’t wear it if you’re a wallflower.”
