Marcus Rashford is ‘so again’ after scoring first Aston Villa objective in tight FA Cup conflict
Marcus Rashford has scored his first non-Manchester United goal as he broke the deadlock in Aston Villa’s FA Cup clash with Preston on Sunday afternoon
Marcus Rashford has netted his first Aston Villa goal with a simple tap-in against Preston.
Rashford, 27, left Manchester United on loan in January after he was frozen out of Ruben Amorim’s plans. And he has netted his first goal for his new outfit, by rolling the ball past David Cornell in the FA Cup.
Villa worked the ball up from the back and into the final third, when Lucas Digne arrowed in a low cross for Rashford to turn in.
“He has been waiting a long time Marcus Rashford but it looks like he has finally got his reward. It’s really good play from Aston Villa, so quick from back to front.
“It’s an easy finish but it’s one that he wants to get out of the way,” Paul Robinson said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Rashford looks like a new man I’m lowkey happy for him,” one fan declared on social media. While a second said: “Marcus Rashford’s first non Manchester United goal,” a second said with a saluting emoji.
“Rashford I’m still happy for you my boy,” a third said. And another added: “Marcus Rashford smiling all the way to Old Trafford and Wembley. Got his mojo back big time!”
And he would double his tally a couple of minutes later when Morgan Rogers was brought down in the penalty box. Rashford stepped up and dispatched the penalty to double Villa’s lead.
Robinson added: “You can just see the confidence oozing through Marcus Rashford. The way he took that penalty tells you where he is right now.
“Rashford watches the goalkeeper and waits until the very last split second, he isn’t even looking at the ball. That is the epitome of confidence!”
