Brits are set to soak up the sun this Mother’s Day as UK temperatures are predicted to outshine Ibiza, hitting a sizzling 23C in just a few days.

This follows a partial solar eclipse that adorned our skies on Saturday morning, kicking off another warm weekend. Stargazers across the UK were out in force to snap the celestial spectacle.

The mercury is now set to rise over the coming days, with initial highs of 17-19C early in the week, expected to climb to a scorching 20-23C by Thursday and Friday. This means Blighty will be basking in higher temperatures than Ibiza, which is only forecasted to reach a maximum of 16C next week.

This hot spell follows a brief bout of unsettled weather on Friday and Saturday, described by the Met Office as “in typical spring fashion”. Despite the daytime warmth, clear night skies could lead to nippy evenings, and even frosty conditions in some areas, reports the Mirror.

Met Office weather expert Honor Criswick detailed: “We are going to see a short-lived spell of unsettled weather this weekend before we transition back towards a blocked weather pattern as high pressure builds on Sunday and dominates our weather through much of next week. While daytime temperatures will be warm next week, nights will still be chilly and there is still a chance we could see some rural overnight frosts under the clear skies.”

The weather guru predicted that the UK can anticipate a “warming” at the beginning of next month. However, it also cautioned that some more “unsettled” conditions might sneak in.

Its forecast for April 1 to April 10 reads: “From the start of April, settled weather is expected to cover much of the UK. Most places are expected to be dry with clear or sunny spells and light winds.

“Inland areas will see a general day on day warming next week. It will probably remain slightly cooler near coastal areas, with an additional risk of mist or sea fog affecting parts of the east coast.

“There is a chance for more unsettled and perhaps cooler weather for a time. However the main signal is for dry and fine weather across the country during this period. Temperatures will likely be around or above normal and feeling warm during the day, and some cold nights are still possible when skies are clear.”
