Girl, 4, killed in Kettering home blaze with mum named as household ‘too upset to talk’
A young girl of just 4 has died following a devastating house fire which left her family ‘too upset to speak.’
The girl who died was named as Mayci by locals, following a fire at a historic former station house in Rushton, near Kettering, Northamptonshire. It is also known that Macyi’s mum, 30, and a 23-year-old man were also killed in the Friday night fire. The Grandmother was approached for comment, but she simply added she was “too upset to speak.”
Speaking to The Sun, she added: “I have lost my great granddaughter in the fire and her mum. It’s just so sad. I’m too upset to speak about it. Her brother had gone out for the evening so was not at home when the fire started.”

Neighbours described the blaze as an “inferno”, which broke out at around 10.30pm Thursday (March 27). Police and fire services attempted to break into the house after the incident, but unfortunately were unable to prevent the fatalities, which have left locals devastated.
A man had been arrested on suspicion of murder but he has since been released with no further action being taken. Photos taken in the aftermath of the blaze showed the house being having been totally gutted by the fire.
A neighbour tolf Northants Telegraph: “It’s absolutely shocking. My lad said it was on fire. There was a man who had tried to get in who was outside.
“It was just an inferno. There were ambulance, police and fire. I don’t know the people who live there but all we can do is hope and pray. It’s just tragic. It’s just horrible. The whole village is in shock.”
Northamptonshire Police Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow previously said of the fire: “This is a heart-breaking situation. My thoughts, and those of everyone involved in responding to this fire, are with the people who died and those who love them.”

They continued: “An incredibly thorough and complex investigation is underway with our partners in Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service to make sure we get the answers that loved ones need and deserve.
“Due to the intensity of the fire we are managing a very challenging and dangerous scene, and are working with partners to safely and respectfully recover the deceased to enable formal identification to take place.”
