Jurgen Klopp sparks Leeds conspiracy concept after brutal Red Bull determination
RB Leipzig sacked manager Marco Rose on Sunday as Jurgen Klopp made his first major managerial decision and it’s sent conspiracy theorists into overdrive thinking Leeds United could be affected
RB Leipzig are searching for a new manager after announcing on Sunday that Marco Rose has been sacked following a 1-0 loss to Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga.
With a German Cup semi-final clash against Stuttgart looming on Wednesday night, Leipzig find themselves in sixth place in the league, having only managed three wins in their last 11 Bundesliga matches.
Rose’s dismissal marks the first managerial casualty since Jurgen Klopp joined the Red Bull group earlier this year as Global Head of Soccer.
The 48-year-old’s sacking has sparked theories that Klopp could use his position within the Red Bull setup to land the Leipzig-born manager a new job.
In May 2024, Red Bull became a minority investor in Leeds United and became the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor.
Given Rose’s managerial ability, following spells at Borussia Dortmund and Monchengladbach, fans suggested that Rose could replace Daniel Farke in the Elland Road hot seat given the Whites’ stuttering promotion form.
One fan on social media said: “There’s the Farke replacement”. A second added: “Marco Rose to Leeds confirmed.”
While a third commented: “Can see Marco Rose tbh. Especially with Leeds’ Red Bull links.”
The ex-Liverpool manager took up the role of Global Head of Soccer in January, having agreed to the job back in October.
But for any Leipzig fans dreaming of Klopp taking charge at the Red Bull Arena, the German had previously distanced himself from taking over the team.
Back in January, Klopp made his stance crystal clear, stating: “I will not be the coach of a Red Bull team. That is a clear commitment.
“As much as you can give a guarantee, I will not be a coach at all. I am probably the only person in this room who will be asked, ‘Where are you in five years?’ I don’t have a clue.”
“But I will not be a replacement of one of the Red Bull coaches. I hope we can create a structure where these questions will not come up at all.”
Rumours from Germany say that Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, who guided Frankfurt to Europa League glory in 2022, making Glasner one of the leading candidates.
