Ryan Reynolds agrees to play in goal for Wrexham after injuries to three goalkeepers
This was our April Fool’s from 2022 – written by our very own Ed Poole – did you get it?
Ryan Reynolds is a Hollywood icon but he’s now set for the biggest role of his life – by playing in goal for Wrexham.
The club’s co-owner has sensationally agreed to line up between the sticks for their FA Trophy semi-final against Stockport County on Saturday. The Dragons, who compete in the National League, are in crisis following injuries to all three of their first-team goalkeepers.
First choice Rob Lainton is out for the season, with Christian Dibble struggling with injury and new signing Lee Camp not match fit.
With the transfer window now closed, the Dragons cannot sign a replacement due to rules governing a Welsh team playing in the English league pyramid – and have to look at people who already have contracts with the club.
