DPD driver decapitated by gang throughout daytime supply ‘did not stand an opportunity’

Two gang members have been convicted of the brutal murder of a DPD driver during his daytime delivery run.

Aurman Singh, 23, was savagely attacked by seven men wielding an array of weapons including a knife, axe, shovel, golf club and hockey stick. The man “didn’t stand a chance” against the seven-on-one onslaught and was left for dead on the pavement after being decapitated.

Mehakdeep Singh, 24, and Sehajpal Singh, 26, were found guilty of the horrific crime following a three-week trial at Stafford Crown Court. The court heard how the attack took place in broad daylight during Aurman’s daily deliveries in Coton Hill.

His injuries were so severe that he was declared dead at the scene. The killers then fled in a white Mercedes Benz and grey Audi, ditching their weapons nearby. The Mercedes, used by Mehakdeep and Sehajpal, was later found abandoned on Kynaston Road, Shrewsbury. The pair reportedly hailed a taxi to the nearest train station, before heading to Wolverhampton and making their escape to Austria, reports the Mirror.

CCTV footage released by West Mercia Police revealed the murderers were finally apprehended in the Austrian village of Hohenzell. This latest conviction follows five other men being found guilty of Aurman’s murder last year, with sentences totalling 122 years behind bars.

The Detective Chief Inspector, Mark Bellamy, has branded the assault as “violent and calculated,” stating: “Sehjapal and Mekahdeep, along with six other men, carried out this attack in broad daylight on a quiet Shropshire street with only one intention – to kill him.

“They used inside information to get hold of Aurman’s delivery route, where they lay in wait for him, before using an arsenal of weapons against him knowing he was defenceless.

“Sehjapal and Mekahdeep, knowing what they had done, then fled the country in an attempt to avoid being put in front of the courts and facing the consequences of their actions”.

By April 2024, Arshdeep Singh, 24, Jagdeep Singh, 23, Shivdeep Singh, 27, and Manjot Singh, 24 had each been banged up for 28 years.

The fifth offender – identified as the insider – was Sukhmandeep Singh, 24, caged for manslaughter for a decade.

The courtroom heard the last Singh in line tipped off the gang about Aurman’s delivery rounds, setting them up to execute the grisly attack with chilling efficiency.
