Man shot lifeless by police at UK prepare station after main incident
A gunman has been shot dead by police at Milton Keynes railway station. Thames Valley Police were called to reports of a man “carrying a firearm” at the Elder Gate travel hub just before 1pm.
Armed officers “challenged” the gunman before the police fired shots at the suspect. Attempts to save the man’s life were made before he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident poses no further risk to the public. The force said in a statement: “Officers from Thames Valley Police and British Transport Police were called to reports of a man carrying a firearm at Milton Keynes railway station, Elder Gate, at 12.55pm today.

“Armed officers from Thames Valley Police responded and challenged the man. Shots were subsequently fired by officers and life-saving actions were immediately taken at the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at 1.44pm.
“There is not believed to be any further risk to the public at this time. We will provide more details as soon as we are able to.”
The station is understood to be closed as the authorities deal with the situation. A source near to the incident told Metro: ‘I just heard a bang and then the ambulances arrived. The station has been closed for a couple hours now.’
A total of six trains departing the station are currently delayed, according to the National Rail website. An area outside the station has been cordoned off and local media is reporting some bus services have been disrupted.
The Daily Star has asked the British Transport Police for comment.
