Mystery shrouds dying of British couple of their dwelling in New Zealand
The couple, who are believed to have had a son, were found dead at their home in Roseneath, Wellington, in New Zealand. The couple were said to be “passionate about being in New Zealand”
A British couple have tragically been found dead in their New Zealand home.
After becoming worried about the couple’s well-being, concerned relatives got in touch with the police. The officers then searched the property in Roseneath, a coastal area of Wellington, and sadly found the pair, believed to be in their late 30s or early 40s, deceased on Monday.
Local residents have been paying their respects to the Brits, who are thought to have left behind a son. The child did not reside with the couple, who were reportedly “passionate about being in New Zealand and giving their family the experience of living here”.
At this point, the cause of the couple’s death remains a mystery, according to the police.
Paul Prestige, who lives nearby, remembered them as “very friendly people” who often threw dinner parties. Their landlord had nothing but praise, saying: “He was a clever, caring, charming man. She was vibrant, kind, intelligent and both of them made friends wherever they went.”
The landlord added: “They were both absolutely wonderful human beings. Both they and their family lived life to the absolute full and were always planning or doing amazing adventures.
“They were both such positive and incredible parents, friends, and members of many communities. We send our love and condolences to their family and friends.”
While the investigation into the tragic deaths is ongoing, a detective from New Zealand Police has moved to calm local nerves. Detective Haley Ryan reassured: “I want to provide assurance that there is no ongoing risk to the Roseneath community.”
The authorities are keeping quiet on further details about the couple, including their UK origins and when they emigrated to New Zealand.
Roseneath is a quiet suburb near Wellington and a real hit with expats. The 2020 census revealed that 34.6% of its residents were born overseas, compared to the national average of 27.1%.
This grim news follows the heartbreaking tributes to a Scottish dad who lost his life in a suspected gas explosion at his Rome hotel. Grant Paterson, from East Kilbride, suffered burns to around 75% of his body.
Despite a skin graft, he succumbed to his injuries at Sant’ Eugenio Hospital. His daughter rushed to Italy to be by his side.
In another blow, a British tourist was found dead while snorkelling on a dream Indonesian holiday. The 81 year old man was discovered just 15ft from the shore of Gili Trawangan island.
Local coppers reported he’d been sailing around the island with a group of tourists before running into trouble in the water.
