Florida police were summoned to a hotel on Beach Court, Riviera Beach, last Sunday following reports of a child struggling to breathe. The boy was rushed to hospital in a critical state, where he sadly died. According to the police, Opsincs had left her son unattended in the hotel room, allegedly leaving an uncapped bottle of apple juice containing methamphetamine in the hotel fridge.

A babysitter reportedly witnessed the child pick up the juice bottle and take a sip, before commenting that it “tasted weird” and spitting it out, as stated in the arrest report, reports the Mirror US.

The babysitter further reported that the boy started shivering, sweating, and developed rashes on his front, back and arms.

The child then vomited and exhibited seizure-like symptoms, according to the report.

The Riviera Police Department confirmed that the boy’s death was due to methamphetamine ingestion.

Police posted a photo of drug-related items on Facebook, including apple juice bottles and drug pipes.

“The Riviera Beach Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the child during this difficult time,” the police expressed.

Opsincs was transported to the Palm Beach County jail, with her bail set at $100,000.

She is scheduled to make a court appearance later this month.

This comes after a 10-year-old boy was crushed to death by his 24-stone foster mother, who allegedly sat on him because he was “acting bad.” Jennifer Lee Wilson, 48, received a six-year prison sentence in January, with one year suspended for probation. She was charged with reckless homicide after Dakota Levi Stevens died. Police were called to a house in Valparaiso, Indiana, on April 25, 2024, after they received calls about a boy who wasn’t breathing. They discovered he had no pulse, as reported by CBS News.

Upon arrival, an officer discovered bruising on the youngster’s lower neck and chest.
