In Brazil stars Andre and Joao Gomes, raiding wing-back Rayan Ait-Nouri and in-form striker Jorgen Stand Larsen, they have individuals at the same level as Forest’s squad.

‘Every league has a team that surprises. Forest have done it this year, hopefully we can surprise a little bit next year,’ said Strand Larsen, whose late winner on Saturday was his fourth goal in three matches.

‘Looking at our quality, I can’t see why we shouldn’t build on this momentum to have a great next season. We want to chase the teams above us and finish where we should, and that’s not 17th.’
