Man, 25, is charged after spouse of Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana ‘was robbed’ of her £62K Hermes Birkin purse and Rolex watch in Cheshire’s ‘Golden Triangle’

A man has been charged after the wife of Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana was robbed in Cheshire’s ‘Golden Triangle’.

Melanie Kamayou was outside San Carlo restaurant in the picturesque village of Alderley Edge – dubbed the ‘Knightsbridge of the North’ – on March 29 when the incident went down.

Detectives investigating the robbery outside a restaurant in Alderley Edge said they have charged a 25-year-old man in relation to the incident.

At around 10pm, Kamayou, 35, was on Wilmslow Road when her gold Rolex watch and Birkin handbag were stolen.

Following enquiries by detectives at Macclesfield CID, a 25-year-old man from Bradford was arrested a man in relation to the incident on Wednesday 2 April.

Liam Ross, of High Street, Wibsey, has since been charged with one count of robbery and one count of being concerned in the supply of class B drugs (cannabis).

He appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Friday 4 April where he was remanded in custody. He is next set to appear at Chester Crown Court on Friday 2 May.
