Man Utd chiefs needs to be ashamed at agreeing put up season tour after star threatened strike

Following a gruelling season of failure and embarrassment, the Manchester United squad has to get on a plane and travel to the Far East. Within hours of completing their final league game of the season against Aston Villa.

To parade themselves in front of supporters in Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong in two exhibition games. All for the sake of earning the club around £10m.

At the end of a campaign which started with Ballon d’Or winner Rodri claiming top level footballers would consider going on strike, unless the authorities took a serious look at the footballing calendar.

Rodri has missed almost the entire season with a serious injury. And the irony of him busting a gut to get fit in time for Manchester City’s participation in the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup this summer, will not be lost on the Spanish superstar.

Because it generates much-needed cash, at a time when the game is drowning in the stuff. While the welfare of the most important people of all – the players – is completely ignored and shown no respect whatsoever.
