Beloved feminine snowboarding champ aged simply 26 dies in horrific accident whereas having fun with paradise winter resort
Female skiing champion Ellery ‘Ellie’ Curtis has died at the age of 26 following a tragic accident on the slopes over the weekend.
Curtis, a former NCAA All-American skier from San Francisco, was pronounced dead at the Palisades Tahoe resort in Olympic Valley, California, after suffering a head injury.
According to the LA Times, the Placer County Sheriff’s Department received a distressed call at 3:45pm Saturday.
However, Curtis had already passed away by the time deputies arrived at the resort.
According to Matt Lorelli, a senior editor for skiing and resort website Powder, she sustained the fatal head injury while descending Ahhh Chute, which is described as ‘a challenging trail’ on Palisades’ famous KT-22 lift.
Her death is reportedly one of three fatalities to occur in the same area over the past fortnight.

Corona resident Roman Lacayo died in a snowboarding accident at the Kirkwood Ski Resort 60 miles north of Palisades Tahoe on March 29, before seven-year-old Reno resident Adelyn Grimes was killed by a falling boulder at the Diamond Peak Ski Resort 24 miles east at Incline Village.
Curtis, who went to Dartmouth College, earned a place on the All-America Second Team during her senior year after finishing eight in the giant slalom at the NCAA Championships in May 2022.
Her first career victory in the giant slalom came at Middlebury in the Snow Bowl that same year.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Curtis was working as an analyst for California Public Utilities Commission before her passing.
‘Ellie Curtis was a hardworking, passionate and driven student athlete whose passions went beyond the snow,’ Dartmouth coaches John C. Dwyer and Anny Jenny are quoted as saying in an email.
‘Ellie was kind, caring and loved to be involved in many organizations and environmental projects.’
The Palisades Tahoe resort has also released a statement about the tragedy, saying: ‘Our hearts go out to the Curtis family and everyone impacted by this devastating loss.
‘Ellie was a beloved skier, and we are deeply saddened by this accident.’
