Former Man United star Louis Saha revealed what Marcus Rashford must change if he wishes to earn a second chance at Old Trafford.

Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan in February after effectively being exiled by Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim, and he is slowly finding his feet again under Unai Emery.

The winger has three goals and four assists in all competitions, and was recently included in Thomas Tuchel‘s inaugural England squad for the Three Lions’ World Cup qualifiers last month.

Villa are covering at least 75 per cent of Rashford’s £315,000-a-week salary and have an option to make his move permanent at the end of the season for £40million.

There is no concrete evidence indicating whether or not Rashford will play for United again, but former striker Saha believes the 27-year-old could suit up in red next season under one condition.

The Frenchman said on talkSPORT’s The LineUp: ‘I think he can go back to Manchester United, but he needs to change his personality and mindset.

‘He has proved on the pitch what a top player he is, but all of this ego stuff he has to get rid of – it’s as simple as that. If you want to destroy defences and help the team be successful, you have to do it in so many different ways.

‘It’s not about his teammates or the manager, it’s about him and until his attitude changes we won’t see the real Marcus Rashford.

‘I, like many, am a big fan and was really upset when he left Manchester United because of the reasons for it breaking down at Old Trafford, but especially more the way he is performing at Aston Villa.’

Saha scored 42 goals in 124 appearances for United between 2003 and 2008. The 46-year-old won two Premier League titles, a Champions League title and an EFL Cup in that time.

Once hailed by Wayne Rooney as one of his favourite strike partners ever, Saha knows how heavy the United shirt weighs.

However, he insisted that Rashford is not only good enough to impress at his former club, but at any club in the world.

Saha added: ‘He has no excuses. It’s not about people, tactics or connections with the fans and it’s ‘bulls***’ for me anyone who says it is. It’s his job to find solutions and adapt.

‘I do believe he can do it and if he decides to do it, I genuinely think he can do it anywhere in the world.’

Speaking at the end of last month, Amorim remained coy when asked about the futures of Rashford and fellow United loanee Antony.

The Portuguese boss said ahead of his side’s clash with Nottingham Forest: ‘I’m planning the future but I don’t want to talk about the future in this moment. I just want to focus on the game.

‘I know Rashford really well and everybody knows the talent that he has. So I already spoke about that. He’s a top player, if he wants.

‘So I’m not surprised and it’s the same with Antony. It’s a good thing we see our players doing well on loan in a different context. That can happen. It’s a good sign for the club.’

Pressed on the issue, he replied: ‘Guys, let’s focus on the game. We are really happy for our players that are on loan doing well.’
