‘Mucky Mandy’ council property mum-of-seven celebrates kid’s ADHD analysis profit bonus
Single mum-of-seven Laura Birchall has caused a stir on social media with her comedy alter ego ‘Mucky Mandy’ by posting videos satirising the assumptions made of benefit claimants
Council estate comedy queen ‘Mucky Mandy’ celebrated her son’s ADHD diagnosis with a video of herself dancing on TikTok.
Mum-of-seven Mandy – real name Laura Birchall – can be seen on the clip bouncing around her living room with her small son to dance music as Miss Rachel plays on the telly.
In the 22 second video, captioned ‘little money machines these kids’, she wrote: “That feeling you get when your son’s just been diagnosed with ADHD,” accompanied with hand clapping emojis. She added: “Now I can get that DLA claim in.”
DLA – Disability Living Allowance – is a benefit given to parents of eligible children to help with the extra costs of looking after a child who has additional difficulties or needs. Depending on the severity of a child’s needs, the rate varies between £29.20 and £187.45 a week.
Children with ADHD can be eligible for DLA if they need significantly more care, attention, or supervision than a child of the same age who isn’t disabled.
The child appears to be the same boy she jokingly made a video about securing “transgender” medication for in order to “stop the male hormone from taking over”.
And it caused a stir in the comments with one user fuming: “You probably aren’t joking though. Scum.”
Another raged: “No wonder he’s got problems the way your shaking him around. Another word for ADHD misbehaving child whose mother is too busy on social media.”
But long-term followers were quick to jump to her defence, with one arguing: “Can’t believe the comments, do people not know your having a laugh?”
Another replied to a negative comment by saying: “Yeah but she is joking. Are you lot mental?”
Mandy is the controversial online alter ego of Wigan-born Laura, who previously told the Daily Star the character is based on “stereotypes” of benefit-claiming single mums.
Now living in nearby Chorley, Lancashire, she has taken the social media platform by storm in recent months.
In another video, ‘Mandy’ takes her children to the shop “to get cider” before saying she needs to “borrow” from the “Christmas Day money” to fund her “sesh”.
Despite what some say in the comments, Laura previously told your Daily Star the videos are “not real”.
In an exclusive interview, she explained the background of the online persona she wants to get on TV and also opened up on her struggles with addiction and escaping domestic violence.
She told us: “Mucky Mandy, the character I play, is based off of most people’s perception of a young single mum with as many kids as I have. I do have 7 children.
“As for explaining that my videos are not real, well, I would assume that was very obvious, but, for the people that think they are real, I’m just going to tell you now: they’re not real.”
She added: “The point is no matter what you’ve been through you can still turn your life around and if you can’t get out to work, well, the internet is a huge place to work from home.”
