Man Utd switch information: Ruben Amorim on ‘crimson alert’ for £50m Prem star and Liam Delap newest
Manchester United and Ruben Amorim are heading into their first summer together and Daily Star Sport has rounded up all the transfer stories from the past 24 hours
The red half of Manchester might well be focusing on their Europa League clash with Lyon on Thursday evening – but Ruben Amorim might already have one eye on the summer.
Amorim has one transfer window under his belt, but the summer represents his first chance to truly stamp him authority on the Manchester United squad.
The Portuguese manager was only able to sign Patrick Dorgu in January, and he’ll be wanting to sign acquire more players that can fit into his famed 3-4-3 system that earned him a wealth of success at Sporting CP.
However, a striker is also on the agenda.
And Daily Star Sport has rounded up all the transfer stories from the past 24 hours.
Ruben Amorim on ‘red alert’ for £50m Premier League star
Amorim is said to be on red alert with Jarrad Branthwaite set to leave Everton this summer, according to various reports.
Branthwaite emerged as a top target for the Red Devils, who were then under the command of Erik ten Hag, after he had a breakout season for the Merseyside club. However, they were priced out of the move by Everton.
One year down the line, Branthwaite is now expected to leave the Toffees this summer – and Amorim is said to be on red alert with a £50million bid enough to make him leave.
Liam Delap’s release clause
Liam Delap was forged in Manchester City’s academy – but it could be at the Red Devils where he truly makes a name for himself.
It has been reported that Delap’s £40m release clause might sink to £30m if Ipswich are relegated to the Championship – and ESPN are now reporting that Delap has emerged as the Red Devils’ No.1 striking target this summer.
Benjamin Sesko, Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres are on Man Utd’s striker shortlist, but Delap has now taken the top spot.
Surprise Premier League target
Brighton and Hove Albion’s Bart Verbruggen has emerged as a shock target for the Red Devils if they opt to get rid of Andre Onana this summer, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, with the shot-stopper also attracting attention from AC Milan.
Onana has been in a war of words with Nemanja Matic ahead of their Europa League clash – with the latter calling him Man Utd’s worst ever keeper.
“Onana said they’re way better than us? When you are one of the worst goalkeepers in Man United history, you need to take care what you’re talking about. If it was [Edwin] Van der Sar, [Peter] Schmeichel or [David] De Gea saying that, okay, but Onana, he’s one of the worst.”
