We take 7ft Prince Andrew on London tour – he ate at Pizza Express however was banned from Tower

EXCLUSIVE: The Duke of York made rare public appearances in tourist hotspots such as the Tower of London, Pizza Express and even met heavyweight world champion David Haye

Prince Andrew has finally faced justice of sorts thanks to the Daily Star.

We dragged the paint-pelted pub sign of the shamed Duke of York to the Tower of London after asking Daily Star readers what we should do with it.

But before we had even left for our grand day out, a puzzled courier angrily asked what we were doing with the “disgraced” royal. The answer was simple – fulfilling the demands of our loyal readership, as always.

Last month, we asked what we should do with the 7ft sign, which was pulled down from the façade of an embarrassed boozer following the Duke’s fall from grace.

Our poll revealed the most popular options were locking it up in the Tower of London, treating it to a meal at Pizza Express and letting the public throw lettuces and tomatoes at it.

We decided it was only right to open it out to the public as many have raised questions about Prince Andrew’s future.

He has been out of the spotlight since he was forced to step away from public life following a car crash Newsnight interview in 2019 about his links to his paedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein.

The historic Duke of York pub, in central London, still bore a sign with his mug on it until it was torn down earlier this year, which we eventually managed to secure.

So with a very slow cargo bike at our disposal, the 20km odyssey from our base in Canary Wharf, east London, began.

The first port of call was the Tower of London, where other royals Anne Boleyn (Henry VIIII’s second wife), Lady Jane Grey (the nine days queen who was executed after a brief reign) and Elizabeth I were locked up.

We weren’t even halfway to the site when we realised that every second person was giving him a glare.

After a quick check, it emerged that a single bead of perspiration was running down the forehead of the royal’s head – unlike the real-life version, who infamously claimed he can’t sweat.

Upon arrival, the precious and “too honourable” cargo was unloaded in order for us to take him in to face the music.

But we were stopped in our tracks by Tower of London guards who told us to leave the grounds.

Undeterred, it was on to the next stage – a visit to Prince Andrew’s favourite restaurant Pizza Express, where he claimed to have spent the evening celebrating on a very important date.

Before we could even get inside, we encountered legendary British boxer David Haye.

David Haye was so out of sorts at the vision of Prince Andrew on a man-powered chariot that he refused to be associated with it for some reason.

Asked if he was the world champion boxer, ‘The Haymaker’ said, “no, I just look like him”, before saying the customised Rolls Royce he was travelling in belonged to the woman driving it.

We told him it was a “sweet whip”.

With the retired boxer not interested in the Prince, we decided to focus on the matter at hand – food.

The kind staff at Pizza Express welcomed us in with open arms and sat us at a table big enough to accommodate the 7ft Prince.

We ordered the “Sloppy Giuseppe”, with a glass of tap water just in case there was an unexpected outbreak of perspiration again.

It didn’t take long for the delicious dish to be devoured, so we decided to move on with the final leg of our tour – and to appease any potential crowds of adoring fans who might have been waiting.

Sadly, and arguably not for the first time when it comes to matters involving Prince Andrew, that judgement was misplaced.

In an undisclosed London park, the Daily Star setup an old-fashioned vegetable-throwing shame ritual.

Despite promises of taking out frustrations on the royal, the public were not all that interested and tried to keep their distance from the well-known royal face.

The only attendee was an incensed Michelle Stewart, 53, who jovially joined us in pelting lettuces, tomatoes and oranges at the troublesome Duke.

After a healthy dose of vitamins, the Daily Star’s Prince Andrew pub sign was retired until another day.
