Tindall gave a further update on Howe ahead of the game at St James’ Park and revealed that the manager hadn’t been able to have his usual input in Newcastle’s preparations for the game.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Tindall said: ‘He’s not been well this week and he was admitted to hospital on Friday evening. Everyone wishes him the best and I’m sure he will be back with us soon.
‘When you’ve been ill all week it’s difficult to have the input you would normally have. The players know the expectations so it’s important they go out and deliver a performance the manager would be proud of.
‘We’ve had a good week, a really positive result away to Leicester. It’s important we deliver a performance that helps us.’

Keane said: ‘I think it does (make a difference). You certainly feel your manager not being there. They’re an experienced group of players. You hope the players and staff can get the job done.’
