Golf followers surprised after Masters receipt reveals ‘insane’ beer costs at Augusta

  • Around 80,000 fans have enjoyed the action at Augusta over the first two days
  • Golf fans have been left stunned by the generous prices for food and drinks

Justin Rose has been the story of the first two days of the Masters as the Englishman sits top of the leaderboard following two stunning rounds.

Around 80,000 fans at Augusta have been enjoying the action as the best golfers in the world battle for glory at the biggest tournament.

Those in attendance have also been making the most of the beautiful surroundings of the most iconic golf course of them all.

However, their experience has only been boosted by the extremely reasonable food and drink prices on offer.

And fans were particularly left shocked by the cost of beers at the venue, as one receipt went viral.

On the receipt, there were five Crows Nest, a craft beer exclusively made for the Masters Tournament and sold at Augusta National in a green commemorative cup.

The cost of the five beers was $30 (£22.93) which comes in at £4.59 per beer.

The bargain price of the beer only enhances Augusta’s reputation as the most affordable sporting menu in the world and fans were left lapping up the generosity shown to fans.

‘WOW! Check out the prices for food and drink at The Masters. How is it so cheap?!,’ one said.

Another added: ‘The concession stand prices at The Masters will always blow our minds. The iconic cheap food and drink at the pinnacle event on the golfing calendar has once again made headlines.’

A further golf supporter said: ‘Food & beverage prices at ⁦@TheMasters put every other sports venue on the planet on notice. You cannot beat this value, and if you buy a drink you get a momento to take home.’

An extra account quipped: ‘Food and drink prices at The Masters are SO good.’

The price of beers also come after fans were left shocked by the cost of all other refreshments.

While a place in the galleries at Augusta National remains one of the most coveted tickets in sports and costs thousands of pounds, food and drink is one area where the exclusive, mysterious club prefers to keep it simple.

There are 27 items on offer, none of which cost more than $6 (£4.59). Some have increased in price, including cookies and peanuts (up $0.25 (£0.19) on last year). But, in total, the entire menu would still cost a patron (or fan) just $77 (£58.86).

The tournament has reportedly added to its menu for 2025, with a ‘savory tomato pie’ now available for $3 (£2.29), while patrons can now buy apple slices for $1.50 (£1.15).

Iconic Augusta sandwiches – egg salad and pimento cheese – remain just $1.50 (£1.15) apiece, while others including the Masters Club are only $3 (£2.29).

Explaining the unique prices, former Augusta National chairman Billy Payne previously said: ‘We want the experience to not only be the best but to be affordable.

‘And we take certain things very, very seriously. Like the cost of a pimento cheese sandwich is just as important as how high the second cut (of grass) is going to be.’
