Mohamed Salah breaks one other document as Liverpool strut in direction of the Prem title
Mohamed Salah has broken another record for Liverpool, just days after signing a new contract for the Reds, with an assist against West Ham
Mohamed Salah can’t stop breaking records, and he’s put his name in the history books, again, on Sunday afternoon.
Just days after signing a new contract at Liverpool – Salah has proved he’s worth his weight in gold with an assist against West Ham. Salah has now broken a new record for goal contributions from a single player in a 38-game season with a combined 45 contributions.
This season, Salah has notched 27 goals and 18 assists. The Egyptian, 32, penned a new two-year deal on Friday morning.
“Of course I’m very excited – we have a great team now,” said Salah. “Before we also had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.
“I have played eight years here, hopefully it’s going to be 10. I’m enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I have had the best years of my career here.”
“He is a physical freak. That’s why it doesn’t surprise me that he still at these levels for his age.
“It’s what he does physically, but also mentally, to stay at top of his game for a whole season, because it’s very hard to do this a whole season playing every three days.
“It’s so hard to win the league or Champions League – only one team can do it every year. For a player to keep those standards for seven or eight years in row is probably even harder. And he has two more years to go and he will prove that he’s able to do so.
“You never know if he’s going score exactly the same amount of goals, or a few more or few less, but we expect and he expects himself as well to stay at his levels.
“The good thing about all this is that we didn’t extend him two years ago at 31 to see how he is at 33, no we are extending him three months before the next season starts.
“I think we can all agree on the fact that Mo has had an incredible season this year. So there’s every reason to expect him to be at the same level at the start of next season.”
Salah is eyeing more history too – he is currently third on the Reds’ all-time list behind only Roger Hunt and Ian Rush.
