The Boat Race halted as drama sparked over Oxford and Cambridge coming collectively

Cambridge cox Jack Nicholas used language not suited to the famous boat race just seconds after the starting gun.

Nicholas was coxing Cambridge in the Women’s boat race with Oxford when the pair collided seconds after starting. Matthew Pinsent waved the red flag as Nicholas yelled: “F****** move it!”

Pinsent considered disqualification, but opted to wave the two teams back on their way. Cambridge were handed a 1/3 of a length advantage with Oxford’s Daniel Orton, in the inferior lane round this first corner, deemed to be at fault.

Jasper Parrish, who was Cambridge cox in 2023, assured viewers we would see a challenge at the end of the race regardless of the result.
