Woman killed in Crawley Leisure Park horror as automobile crashes into household

The woman, aged 25, was pinned under the BMW as it mounted the curb and struck a family of three who were outside the Crawley Leisure Park in Crawley, West Sussex

A tragic incident has left a woman dead and a man arrested after a sports car careered onto the pavement outside a leisure park.

A 25-year-old woman was killed when she became trapped beneath a BMW M3 that hurtled over the kerb in Crawley, West Sussex, slamming into a family on Saturday (April 13).

She was one of three victims struck by the vehicle, with her 12-year-old sister and their 19-year-old cousin currently receiving treatment in hospital.

The local family was near Crawley Leisure Park when the horror unfolded at about 8.30pm, as confirmed by the police. Sussex Police have informed the relatives of those involved and are providing support through their specialist officers.

The force also disclosed that they’ve arrested a 33-year-old man linked to the crash. He was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drug-driving.

Police are now seeking CCTV footage and urging witnesses to step forward with any useful information, reports the Mirror.

Chief Inspector James Davidson said: “Our thoughts are with the victims’ family at this difficult time and we ask that the public respect their right to privacy.”

“I’d like to reassure the community that we swiftly arrested a suspect in connection with this tragic incident, and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances.”

“The collision occurred in London Road, Crawley, immediately outside the leisure park. This is a well populated area and we’re urging anyone who saw what happened or captured any relevant mobile, dash cam or CCTV footage to please come forward.”
