Brits reveal the 25 most uncommon methods to deal with themselves – what number of do you do?
A new survey has found the most unusual ways Brits like to treat themselves – and some of the methods are more quirky than you might think. How many do you do?
Indulging in ‘bad’ films, sipping from a cherished mug, and scooping peanut butter straight from the jar are some of the quirky ways Brits pamper themselves. A survey of 2,000 adults revealed that they typically treat themselves about three times a week, with Friday being the preferred day for such indulgences.
Other unconventional treats include changing bed linens, enjoying a pre-bedtime coffee, and having dessert for breakfast. Despite these indulgences, a quarter of adults feel they don’t treat themselves often enough. However, 43% of those who share this sentiment plan to make more effort to change this – and some have already started.
The research was commissioned by Kahlua, which has partnered with Tony’s Chocolonely to craft 40 martini glasses made entirely of chocolate – available at Dirty Martini in Bishopsgate from Friday, April 18.
An Espresso ‘MarTony’ will also be available at Dirty Martini venues nationwide from Thursday, April 17th for one month only.
Craig van Niekerk, spokesperson for the coffee liqueur brand, said: “It’s important to treat oneself – no matter what day of the week. And as the research shows it’s possible to do just that in the smallest of ways – it doesn’t need to be a grand gesture.
“But it is fun to push the boat occasionally and really indulge yourself.”
The study revealed that 50% of people view their favourite treats as indulgent, and it’s not hard to see why. Some of the unusual ways respondents indulge themselves include ordering food to work, enjoying hot chocolate in the summer, and devouring a whole tub of ice cream.
Other popular treats include having a cereal cocktail – a blend of different cereals in a bowl with milk – sipping cocktails in the bath, and enjoying breakfast in bed.
And for those who worry about overindulging, nearly half (49%) believe it’s impossible to treat oneself too much.
To promote Kahlua’s cocktail, sustainable chef Lagom Chef Martyn Odell features in a new video where he is seen serving the drink in an edible chocolate glass to a surprised customer.
