Gen Z ‘love’ having significant conversations – and so they’re finest at opening up analysis exhibits
Gen Z are leading the way in open communication, with a whopping 88% believing it’s crucial to have serious and honest conversations with others. A study of 2,000 adults revealed that those born after 1996 engage in 12 deep interactions with friends and family per month, with a significant 64% expressing a love for these types of discussions.
The research also showed that 33% of Gen Zs are most likely to engage in meaningful intergenerational chats with individuals outside their age bracket. Top conversation topics include history and how things used to be, as well as food and family traditions.

Key benefits of conversing with people from different generations include strengthening bonds and creating lasting memories (42%), and gaining more rounded perspectives on significant decisions (41%). Almost four in ten Gen Zs also find solace in the viewpoints of other age groups during challenging times.
The research was commissioned by Uber Eats. A representative for the food delivery app commented: “One of the most heart-warming things we see is how mealtimes can bring different generations together.
“Grandparents sharing their favourite dishes, parents teaching kids how they ate when they were young themselves these small, everyday moments help preserve family traditions and create new ones.”
The brand is keen to inspire Brits to celebrate Songkran – the Thai New Year – by launching Songkran Supper Clubs.
Rosa’s Thai is offering a four-person meal for the price of two, complete with a set of specially crafted porcelain spoons, each engraved with thought-provoking conversation starters.
The survey further discovered that 82% of all respondents believe people talk less in person and more online today, resulting in fewer ‘meaningful’ connections.
However, when these chats do happen, the top spots were found to be around the dinner table – at home or a friends – and in a quiet restaurant.
Just over half of those surveyed admitted they’re more likely to delve into deep conversations when food is part of the equation, as per the data from OnePoll.com.
The Songkran Supper Club is available on Uber Eats for people of varying generations to gather and connect – possibly for the first time – over a shared meal.
