CNN Data Chief Flags ‘Ridiculously Awful’ Trend For Trump: ‘My Goodness Gracious!’

CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten on Sunday stressed that Americans aren’t “buying” what Donald Trump is selling as he looked at data showing their souring views on the economy since the president launched his massive trade war.
Enten pointed to a new CBS News/YouGov poll showing the amount of Americans who oppose Trump’s widespread tariffs plan increased from 46% to 58% between January and last week.

The number of those who favor the tariffs, Enten noted, has decreased from 48% to 42% in the same time.
“More and more people are turning against Donald Trump. Their views of the economy are getting worse. They are holding Donald Trump responsible,” Enten told CNN’s Jessica Dean.
“And when it comes to his signature issue so far in his second term, tariffs, I mean, my goodness gracious, that trend line is ridiculously awful for Trump.”

Earlier in his CNN appearance, Enten pointed to figures from the same poll showing the number of those who think the economy is “getting worse” increased 11% between November and last week (from 42% to 53%).
“I will just say, I’ll put it in stark terms, I believe this is the worst poll that Donald Trump has received in his second term,” Enten said.
He later turned to numbers from the poll showing Trump’s net approval rating sink from +6 points in early February to -6 points last week, marking the first time in his second term that figure has been “underwater.”
