BALLYTECHNO (2.05, nap) is a stand-out tip at Cheltenham on Wednesday – one of six races live on ITV4.

James Owen’s beast likes good ground and ran a blinder when last seen at Kelso. The trainer will be hoping the rain stays away for his raider who is a generous 12-1.

BHALOO (2.40) is another who needs his hooves to rattle on a decent surface and is the pick in the Matt Hampson Foundation Silver Trophy at the home of jump racing.

Meanwhile Classic credentials are on the line at Newmarket where four races are live on ITV4. OPERA BALLO (3.35) looks pitch perfect in the Bet365 Craven Stakes – a traditional trial for the 2,000 Guineas.

The unbeaten son of Ghaiyyath has won his two starts at Kempton by a combined 12 and a half lengths and could not have been more impressive. The form is questionable but the turn of foot he showed was deadly. He is up against some rivals who bring top class juvenile form to the table.

Wimbledon Hawkeye won a Group Two and was third in a Group One while the selection’s stablemate Aomori City – preferred by Will Buick – was placed at the Breeders’ Cup. The strapping son of Kingman, Field Of Gold, is another big player.

But Opera Ballo could make his current odds of 25-1 for the 2,000 Guineas look pretty generous.

Charlie Appleby can land a big race double with ROMANTIC STYLE (3.00) who is tipped to outclass Royal Zabeel and Lethal Levi in the Blindfold Bloodstock Abernant Stakes.

She did not stay a mile last season and looked a sprinter if potential when scoring over 6f at mayday in January. She will not mind the recent rain.

GALLANT (1.50) looks a bit overpriced in the Bet365 Handicap based on the form of his Kempton win last year, while there is a good word for Shadwell newcomer ALTAREQ (2.25) in the Bet365 Wood Ditton Stakes for unrated three-year-olds.
