Young woman is attacked by XL Bully-type canine outdoors store
A young girl has been taken to hospital after she was attacked by an XL Bully-type dog outside a shop.
The incident happened in the Trebanog area of the Rhondda Valley, south Wales, on April 7.
The victim was rushed to hospital after sustaining three puncture wounds during the attack.
It is understood the injuries were not life threatening and she is now recovering at home.
Police are yet to validate the claim the dog was an XL Bully but it has since been destroyed.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: ‘If someone owns, or believes they own, an XL Bully dog which isn’t registered, they can no longer register directly with Defra.
‘We would encourage these owners to contact South Wales Police in the first instance, as there are potential options to register the dog without seizing it.’
It comes just days after a woman was airlifted to hospital with life-changing injuries after she was attacked by a dog – thought to be an XL Bully.

Emergency services were called at about 4.15pm on Thursday after the victim was bitten at a home in Sutton Avenue, Bristol.
The woman, believed to be in her 40s, was taken to hospital with injuries described as potentially life-changing.
A rise in violent attacks resulting in serious injury and even death gave way to a ban on the XL Bully breed last year.
Since February 2024, it has been a criminal offence to own an XL bully dog in England and Wales without an exemption certificate – meaning unregistered pets will be taken and owners possibly fined and prosecuted.
Judges said ministers had ‘sufficient evidence of an alarmingly high level of fatal attacks’ by the dog breed when launching the crackdown last year.
