Bank Holiday storms to drench Brits so that they’re fleeing to guide islands hitting 22C

Hordes of sun-seeking Brits are making last minute escapes to hotter climates after the spring scorcher was replaced by depressing downpours.
Holiday bookings for the coming days surged by 30% on Sunday and Monday compared to the previous 48 hours. Easter departures have soared by 96% in the past 10 days.
Travel agents believe folk have been closely monitoring the weather forecast before deciding to make a dash abroad. Heavy rain, hail and thunder are set to sweep across the UK this bank holiday. It has prompted a surge in desperate folk ditching the umbrellas and confirming last minute jollies.
Tenerife, Antalya and even Lanzarote, recently hit by raging floods, will all bask in 22C highs next week.
Zoe Harris, of On the Beach, said: “Thousands have all turned to their laptops and booked holidays out of here.”
But travellers jetting off on spring getaways could be hauled over the coals for packing Easter eggs in their hand luggage.
Many UK airports have different rules on what choccy treats are allowed meaning it’s a minefield for those who want to indulge.
Expert Laura Busby, of Good Travel Management, warned: ”No airports have completely scrapped the hand luggage liquid rule, meaning you could be caught out if you’re packing any crème-filled confectionary that exceeds the 100ml limit.
“Heathrow Airport recommends avoiding bringing these types of Easter treats, though these can be packed in your checked luggage.
“Different airports have different rules. Birmingham Airport recently issued a statement allowing travellers to carry Easter eggs in their hand luggage, though gift wrapping is not permitted as security staff may have to unwrap them.”
Spain’s Costa Del Sol hotels are running at around three quarters full this week- slightly higher than last year.
José Luque, president of Costa del Sol Hotel Business Association, said many Brits wait to see what the weather will be like before booking.
He added: “This year, there is some uncertainty with the weather, last-minute bookings will be essential.”
The Daily Star recently reported that holidaymakers heading to Spain and Italy are being warned about a potentially deadly virus.
The West Nile Virus has seen a small surge in cases in Europe. One individual has been infected in Seville, Spain, while another case has popped up in Modena, Italy.
The mosquito-borne virus can cause serious symptoms in one out of every five infected individuals, including fever, body aches, rashes, and vomiting.
