A young Brit who went missing in Thailand last month has been found alive and well in a hostel as his disappearance remains shrouded in mystery. Daniel Davies, from Llanelli, Wales, last contacted his family on March 13 when he was staying at the Hangover Hostel on Koh Phi Phi Don in Krabi.

The 26-year-old’s aunt Nicole Doran asked online for information on her nephew’s whereabouts as it was “highly out of character” for him to break contact for so long. The family filed a missing person report with Wales police, who got in touch with their Thai counterparts.

Nicola said: “My nephew Daniel Davies has gone missing in Bangkok, Thailand. He’s been reported and is now a missing person. No one has had any contact in weeks.”

Friend Lucia Froom added: “Daniel’s phone is switched off and no one has heard from him in weeks, which isn’t like him at all. If anyone knows anyone in Thailand or is planning a trip there soon, can people please keep an eye out for him.”

Missing persons charity Echoes of the Lost has also joined the appeal alongside SARS Cymru. They said: “Daniel, if you happen to see this post, please get in contact with your family. They are worried. If you wish to message us to pass information along, please feel free to do so.”

As the case started to attract attention in Thailand and internationally, police and immigration authorities stepped up their search efforts. The police said they located Daniel at hostel in Krabi on Tuesday (April 15) and that he was safe and well.
