Major Blackpool incident as police inform folks to ‘keep away’ after ‘man on roof’
Police have closed several roads while dealing with a major incident in Blackpool.
According to police, a man, who had been arrested, has fled and climbed a roof.
Lancashire police said: “We are currently responding to an incident in the Victoria Street area of Blackpool. Shortly after 6am this morning, our officers responded to a report of an assault in Blackpool, and a man was arrested.
“The man made off from our officers, before climbing onto the roof of a nearby building. Officers, including specialist negotiators are currently at the scene.
“Our immediate priority is the safety of the man and the public, and we therefore ask you to avoid the area. We will bring you an update when we are able to.”

Police have cordoned off an area between Victoria Street, Coronation Street, Leopold Grove, Albert Road and Adelaide Street, reports LancsLive.
Drones were also seen being used this morning, according to local reports.
It is currently unknown when the situation will end as cops expect the closures to be in place for some time.
Lancashire Police’s local Blackpool specific Facebook account posted an earlier message about the road closures.
They wrote: “Good morning, We want to update you and let you know that there are road closures in place from the junctions of Victoria Street and Coronation Street, Leopold Grove and Adelaide Street, Coronation Street junction with Adelaide Street, with Albert Road and Coronation Street closed.

“We anticipate that the roads will be closed for some time, whilst we assess the situation. In the meantime, we’d recommend looking for an alternative route and avoiding the area.
“We’ll keep tabs on what’s happening and we’ll update you here once the road is open. As always, thank you for your patience and stay safe if you’re out and about today.”
