Wild marriage ceremony visitor pulled clumps of hair out girl’s scalp as one other left toothless
A woman at a wedding has caused chaos after she attacked three people in a drunken rage – the women left her victims missing chunks of hair and even a tooth after the attack
A 34-year-old woman violently assaulted three people at a friend’s wedding as one of the victims dragged into the beating had clumps of hair missing while another was missing a tooth.
Amy Parker from South Wales, residing in Weston-super-Mare, had been heavily drinking several hours before the shocking incident. The assault took place on St Mary’s Street in Cardiff city centre during the early hours of Sunday morning, June 23.
During her sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday, May 29, Parker admitted she couldn’t remember any of the incident due to her excessive drinking. The court heard Parker provoked the incident as she approached a group of four siblings and their partners and began throwing punches.
The defendant – who had one previous conviction for drink-driving – assaulted multiple people during the incident. Three of them decided their injuries were severe enough to press charges.
Parker punched one victim in the face, knocked another to the ground before dragging her by the hair and tearing out clumps from her scalp. A third victim was headbutted so forcefully he lost a tooth and was left covered in blood, reports Wales Online.
South Wales Police officers arrived swiftly at the scene and arrested Parker. Andrew Davies, prosecuting, told the court man forked out over £670 for a temporary fix to the dental disaster until he can afford a permeant solution.
Defender Harry Baker claimed at the time of the incident Parker’s rough patch in life, losing her mum and battling with her headspace. He reminded Judge David Payne Parker had been quick to acknowledge her actions were wrong and admitting guilt at the first chance.
“She has had the good sense to seek counselling,” Mr Baker said. “She was worried enough by her behaviour to go and seek some help to ensure that it will not happen again.”
Mr Baker also claimed Parker “hasn’t got any money” and couldn’t cough up the compensation needed pay out for injuries inflicted during her assault. Judge Payne, wasn’t having any of it and hinted the defendant could dip into the equity of her late mum’s house to stump up the cash instead of relying on taxpayer money.
Mr Baker lobbed back and said the gaff wasn’t all hers – she had only been left with a share of the house along with others. They then nailed down a deal for her to trickle back the costs in pocket-sized repayments each month.
Judge Payne sentenced Parker for assault causing grievous bodily harm, actual bodily harm and assault by beating. Parker’s assault found herself behind bars for one year in a two year suspended sentence.
She is also required to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work and cough up £670 in compensation to her victim, along with prosecution costs of £770, at a minimum rate of at least £60 per month.
