Liverpool get huge enhance in Milos Kerkez switch with price agreed and medical set
Liverpool have received a boost in their pursuit of Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez as the Cherries move a step closer to signing a replacement for the left-back
Liverpool have received a boost in their Milos Kerkez pursuit as Bournemouth reportedly reach an agreement to sign left-back Adrien Truffert from Stade Rennes.
The Cherries have been pursuing the 23-year-old as a potential replacement for Kerkez, who is set to join Liverpool. Andoni Iraola’s team have now finalised a deal with their French counterparts, believed to be worth around £14.4million, including add-ons.
Truffert has just one year remaining on his Ligue 1 contract and expressed his desire to Rennes for a fresh challenge. According to the Mirror, he has already verbally agreed to a long-term contract with Bournemouth and has been given the go-ahead to undergo medical examinations. Nottingham Forest and Marseille had also shown interest in Truffert.
Truffert’s transfer to Bournemouth will only proceed if Kerkez’s expected move to Liverpool goes ahead. The Cherries are holding out for approximately £45m for the Hungarian international, who had an exceptional 2024/25 season.
The 21-year-old played all 38 Premier League matches for the club last season, contributing two goals and six assists. He is eager to join Liverpool, who see him as a long-term successor to Andy Robertson, and he left the Hungary squad last week citing ‘personal reasons’.
Negotiations between the two sides were complicated when Cherries technical director Simon Francis jetted off to the United States last week to represent Bournemouth in The Soccer Tournament. Francis, who has been spearheading discussions with Richard Hughes, was briefly unavailable.
Liverpool’s back-up left-back Kostas Tsimikas is likely to depart Anfield this summer, attracting interest from Premier League clubs and abroad. Meanwhile, Robertson has expressed his desire to sign a new deal with Liverpool, insisting he’s ready to battle for his spot in the starting lineup.
“We’re not daft, it looks as if a deal could potentially be done,” Robertson shared with BBC Scotland. “But, until that is done, I’ve not even given that a second thought. I back myself, I’ve got confidence in my own ability and that drives me forward.
“I’ve had eight fantastic years at Liverpool in terms of winning trophies, being a mainstay in the team, which I’m incredibly proud of. I’m not getting any younger, I can’t change my age, but I still believe I’ve got a lot to give and that’s what I focus on.
“I focus on myself – you can’t focus on other people or who you’re competing with. I still believe I have a hell of a lot to give for however many years I can keep going. My body feels good at the minute.”
