Salford chaos as riot police sort out ‘as much as 60 youths’ with automobile seen in flames
Riot police have been scrambled to a car ablaze as trouble breaks out on the streets of Manchester.
Police say they are dealing with an outbreak of ‘serious disorder’ in Salford this afternoon (June 11), with videos and pictures emerging show youths blocking a road. GMP say one person as been arrested and a police car has been damaged in the Lower Broughton Road area. A dispersal order is in place around the Lower Broughton Road with police warning ‘behaviour of this nature will not be tolerated’.
In a statement GMP Salford said: “Officers are currently dealing with serious disorder on Lower Broughton Road in Salford and there is a dispersal order in place. Behaviour of this nature will not be tolerated and we will respond accordingly.

“We have made an arrest on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and one of our vehicles has been damaged.”
Lower Broughton Road is closed between B6186 Frederick Road and A576 Great Cheetham Street West, according to traffic data company Inrix.
According to Manchester Evening News, a witness estimates about 50-60 teenagers and young people are ‘hanging round’ at the scene. Reports say several bricks and stones were thrown in the incident.
They added: “There is a Fiat 500 which has been completely smashed in. It’s windows have been stoved in.
“The police are here, but they’re circling around at the moment. At a rough guess I’d say there are about 50-60 people hanging about, but a lot of residents are also coming out.”

New photos show a white Fiat 500 which was completely written off in the damages. Its windshield was hanging off, with the door wide open next to plenty of denting.
Video apparently from the scene shows a car which has been set of fire and another car with a smashed windscreen.
Several police cars, including the tactical aid unit, appear to have been called to Lower Broughton Road, with the police helicopter also reportedly flying overhead.

It is not yet confirmed what the motivation behind the incident was, or whether there have been any injuries. The extent of the damage is also not yet known.
A video seen by the Manchester Evening News show a car performing a handbrake turn in the street and driving through gardens. In another clip wheelie bins can be seen blocking the road as a group of people gather in the road.
