A husband and wife duo were unmasked as drug peddlers involved in the distribution of heroin and crack cocaine, which they stashed at an industrial estate unit. The couple’s children were present during their arrest by police, having been brought to the unit by their parents.

Curtis Price, 29, and Sarah Price, 25, were spotted by police speeding in a black BMW at Abercanaid Industrial Estate in Merthyr Tydfil on May 15. They entered a unit, locked it behind them, and stayed there for a while.

During a sentencing hearing at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Friday, it was revealed that Curtis Price emerged alone and officers approached his car, which he locked from inside.

Prosecutor Emma Meadows stated that the following items were found in the unit: a Tupperware box containing 133g of cocaine worth between £5,000 and £7,000, 3.32g of heroin valued at £345, a DKNY bag containing a white waxy substance identified as 67.88g of crack cocaine worth £7,000, snap bags containing 17 wraps of crack cocaine valued at £255, 30 packaged heroin deals worth £450, and four snap bags containing cocaine valued between £440 and £650.

The raid uncovered a stash of items including bicarbonate of soda, ammonia bottles, a breathing respirator, three scales, Tupperware, a Pyrex jug, cardboard, and two hefty knives stashed in a Sports Direct bag.

Phone analysis revealed Curtis Price’s role in peddling class A drugs, with Sarah Price clued into the scheme, aiding with deliveries and drug prep.

Both culprits from Tremgarth, Trecynon, Aberdare, owned up to three charges related to class A drug supply and holding criminal property, linked to vehicles at the scene.

The court was informed that Curtis Price had a history of driving offences, while Sarah Price had maintained a clean slate until now.

Curtis Price’s defence, Hywel Davies, argued his client’s mental health woes led to job loss, pushing him to secure funds for his family’s welfare.

Davies highlighted Curtis Price’s desire to “give his children a better life” and ensure financial stability for his kin.

For Sarah Price, Elin Morgan contended her involvement was due to “naivety” about the operation’s gravity, stressing her lack of sway over higher-ups in the drug chain.

Judge Richard Kember handed down a sentence of three years and six months to Curtis Price, while Sarah Price received a three-year term.
