‘Moses Itauma could have his chin examined by Dillian Whyte – he is going into the deep finish’

Not in my time in the sport has a prospect stepped up so fast as Moses Itauma has – and that’s just proof of how good he is.

The 20-year-old is facing world title challenger Dillian Whyte on August 16 out in Saudi Arabia. He’s only had 12 professional fights and, despite being a talented young amateur, didn’t box at senior level in the vest.

Yet we fully know how good Moses is and that is why there was no hesitation in putting him in with someone of Whyte’s level. Whyte has been in with the best at heavyweight having faced Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

He lost but he gave a good account of himself in both. He’s beaten people like Alexander Povetkin and Joseph Parker so he has some good names on his record.

Moses has only gone past two rounds twice in his 12 bouts but now he’s going into the deep end. We will certainly know what he’s about after this fight.

Dillian Whyte will face Moses Itauma

I’ve got full confidence he will show it to the world over in Riyadh on a fantastic show. He has the power and he has the boxing brains to mix it with the top level of fighters despite his young age and experience.

The method of victory is not important. This is a fight he wants to win and if he gets 12 rounds under his belt and a points victory then that would be an excellent outcome.

We are also likely to see Moses’ chin tested and that’s important for heavyweights. I know how good Moses is, now everyone else outside of his team will find out on August 16.

It is an exciting card over there with Nick Ball putting his WBA featherweight title on the line against Sam Goodman.

The Wrecking Ball has made a name for himself over in the Middle East and this will be another night he shines.
