Stag do lads’ ‘as soon as in a lifetime’ karaoke as bloke brings the roof down with efficiency
A group of lads celebrating their mate’s stag do certainly got their money’s worth after they entered a karaoke bar only to be confronted with a ‘once in a lifetime’ performance
A bunch of lads decided to try a bit of karaoke while on a stag do – but were instead faced with an unexpected first-class opera performance.
Groom-to-be Sam Stride, who runs the darts page JuicyDarts online, shared the moment an opera singer belted out the iconic song Nessun Dorma while in a small karaoke bar in the middle of Estonia. Posting the video on X, he wrote: “My stag so. Estonia. Random karaoke bar. Bloke comes in and smashes Nessun Dorma note-for-note and leaves.”
He added: “Once in a lifetime.” Commenters were just as shocked and delighted as Sam, with one penning: “This is f****** epic.”
Another added: “You’ve peaked mate.” A third noted: “Legendary stuff”.
The video, taken at Satumaa Karaoke Bar, captured a large group of men brought to their feet by the powerful performance as they sing along to the iconic piece of Italian opera.
The singer, dressed in an unassuming blue jacket, grabbed the microphone and belted out the tune to several onlookers. He hit every note well, with clear talent within opera.
Some social media comments left desperate pleas to find the singer. It didn’t take long, however, for the talent to be found.
A user wrote: “His name’s Timothy Richards (@thewelshtenor on instagram) – he also happens to be my old man.” Someone else shared a link to his website, in which Richards describes himself as The Welsh Tenor.
According to his biography, Richards “studied at the Royal Northern College of Music Manchester in the UK and as a student won the Towyn Roberts Scholarship at the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales, one of his country’s most prestigious singing competitions.”
Following this, he has worked in several huge European opera houses. Most recently, he has appeared in Albert Hall London, Japan and Austria where he made his debut singing at the Musikverein in Vienna.
Reminiscing on his viral moment, which has amassed well over 2million reactions, Richards told the Mail Online: “I was in town at the same time as these guys – I didn’t even know who they were.
“We had a few drinks and soon I was up. I enjoyed it. They [the revellers] all knew it that’s why [we] sang together.”
Richards currently lives in Germany but at the time had been performing in Richard Wagner’s romantic opera Lohengrin.
