A major business in a shopping centre is set to shut its doors next month.

The video game retailer has put up clearance signs in its windows in Nottingham’s Victoria Centre, indicating that all stock must be sold before the closure in July. Having been a fixture in the shopping centre for several years, the GAME store will cease trading on July 17, as per the notices plastered on the shop windows.

These signs also announce a 20% discount on most items, under the banner “all stock must go,”. Interestingly, the House of Fraser store situated opposite GAME, which houses a GAME section, shares the same ownership.

Meanwhile, other outlets within the Victoria Centre have seen significant refurbishments. For instance, the HMV store reopened in April following a comprehensive revamp, reports Nottinghamshire Live.

A supermarket in a bustling shopping centre is set to shut its doors for good, but not before hosting a massive closing-down sale this weekend. Farmfoods has announced that its store at the Albion Centre in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, will close after more than 20 years of serving the local community.

On Sunday (June 22), the store will sell off its remaining stock at discounted prices, offering customers a chance to snag some bargains. The Scottish frozen food and grocery chain, founded in Aberdeen in 1954, operates over 300 stores across the UK.

This closure comes as the supermarket chain revealed plans to open a new store in Codnor, near Ripley, which promises to be “one of the largest” in the UK. The new store will be built on the site of the former French Horn pub, which closed in 2021.

Demolition work began last year, paving the way for the new development.

A spokesperson for Farmfoods previously confirmed the plans, stating: “I can confirm we have commenced development with the intention of opening a new shop at Market Place, Codnor at the junction with Nottingham Road and Heanor Road.”

“The land was formerly occupied by the French Horn public house. “The new shop will be one of our largest in the country and offer our full range of branded and own-brand products, including frozen food, groceries, chilled foods, bread, milk, fresh fruit and vegetables, along with a range of household and other items. “
