Grim scenes from the UK’s sizzling weekend have emerged, with one massive 100-strong brawl recorded on Broadstairs beach in Kent on Saturday while temperatures exceeded 30C

Kent: Mass brawl breaks out on Broadstairs beach during heatwave
An ugly brawl broke out on a UK beach as part of widespread disturbances across the country as we basked in a ludicrously hot weekend.
In grim footage, two men can be seen trading blows on a beach in Broadstairs, Kent, while a group of at least 100 youths cheer them on. Stunned bystanders in their swimwear watched on as the melee moved around the beach, with one woman picking up a child to try and escape the chaos.
Some youths could be seen on top of a beach hut to avoid the hideous clash. One witness filmed the event, saying: “Look at the state of them.” In the “fight”, several of the blows between the young men connect, leaving one of the attackers unsteady on their feet.
It was part of widespread anti-social disturbances in Broadstairs on Saturday, June 21, as temperatures on the beach soared to 30C (86F) that day, as reported on NeedToKnow.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “We were called to a report that a disturbance related to approximately 50 individuals was taking place on Broadstairs beach shortly before 3pm on Saturday 21 June.
“Officers attended and after completing enquiries a 17-year-old boy was arrested and taken into custody. Later that day, the teenager was charged with assaulting a police officer and was bailed with conditions to attend Maidstone Youth Court at a later date.
“A dispersal order remains in place following concerns of antisocial behaviour involving a small minority of young people in some public areas, including the town centre and beaches.
“Local officers will be on patrol to provide a visible presence and to ensure the area remains a safe place for all.”
Temperatures inched close to 34 degrees on Saturday in the UK, with the hot weather continuing throughout the weekend.
Even the North saw 31C, hotter than Pacific sunshine isle Tahiti’s 29C. Marco Petagna from the Met Office said: “It’s hot, hot, hot.”
Rail travellers were stranded in sweltering carriages after a broken-down train halted all services in south London.
Passengers were forced to evacuate and walk along the track. Operator Thameslink apologised for the “difficult and uncomfortable experience”.
Meanwhile pub chiefs were delighted with the early summer sizzler as Brits flocked for a pint.
Johnny McElhinney, director of Windmill Taverns, which runs four pubs in central London, said: “We’re buzzing. It’s the busiest weekend of the year and it seems everyone is out for beers.”
