Liverpool switch information: £150m striker deal on horizon as large star ‘pushes’ for exit
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak during the summer transfer window
The summer transfer window has swung open and Liverpool could be bracing for a whirlwind few months. The Reds have already bagged three fresh signings and are on the cusp of unveiling a fourth.
Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, and Armin Pecsi have all been snapped up by Liverpool this summer. The Reds are also edging closer to rubber-stamping the £40million capture of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
Liverpool could usher in more new faces to Arne Slot’s squad ahead of the September 1 deadline if the rumour mill is to be trusted. Meanwhile, speculation persists about players who might bid farewell to Anfield this summer.
Liverpool has received an update on the future of Newcastle United hitman Alexander Isak, reports the Liverpool Echo.
According to a report in The Times, Newcastle is “concerned” that the Reds will table a bid to snare Isak this summer and are prepared to dangle a contract offer to ward off Liverpool’s interest.
It’s been claimed that Liverpool has the financial muscle to make an offer for Isak, but the Sweden international hasn’t shown any inclination to depart St James’ Park just yet.
Previous reports have pegged Newcastle’s valuation of Isak between £100million and £150million, potentially even higher.
There’s been a development regarding Darwin Nunez’s future at Liverpool. talkSPORT has reported that the forward is “pushing” for an Anfield exit this summer amidst ongoing rumours about his future.
AC Milan, Napoli, and Atletico Madrid have all been previously associated with a swoop for Nunez in the upcoming transfer window.
It’s suggested that Liverpool might be willing to offload Nunez on a full-time basis to generate cash for a fresh striker signing.
While Nunez is open to a transfer to Italy, there remains a significant hurdle: Liverpool’s demands. Napoli now need to negotiate with the Reds, who are not interested in selling at a low price.
Also looking to leave is Ibrahima Konate, who is reportedly ‘disappointed’ with Liverpool’s initial efforts to retain him at the club. The French defender has only a year left on his contract at Anfield amidst rumours of interest from Real Madrid.
Liverpool are eager to keep him, but Konate is far from impressed by their new offer, with the structure of the proposal failing to win his approval. It’s suggested that Konate’s agents are pushing for a higher salary.
The Reds have already been linked with signing a new defender this summer, with Guehi topping their wishlist.
