Arsenal slammed over £11.35 bangers and mash as followers fume over blob of potato

Fans were left horrified as they headed to the canteens of the Emirates stadium during Arsenal’s clash with West Ham to find their small and measly meals were over £10

Arsenal’s £11.35 bangers and mash with a measly blob of potato has been slammed by fans. The half-time dish comes with a huge sausage.

But supporters were left fuming at the bizarre portion size of mash and sky-high price at the Emirates. Despite the Gunners sitting top of the Premier League – one point above Liverpool – fans reckon the club has scored an own goal with its pricey grub.

The meal, believed to be the “Wicks Manor sausage with mash and gravy” listed on Arsenal’s website, was bought during the side’s 2-0 win over West Ham last Saturday (October 4). Fans were clearly left horrified at the huge cost in price and took to social media to vent their frustrations.

One fan fumed: “£11? Scran-dalous.” Another fan, Charlie Sheldon, added his own comments of disgust: “I bought this recently thinking it was a hot dog.

“The sausage was good but barely any mash and was just a weird experience.” A third user, Tendai, said: “95% banger, 5% mash,” while another joked: “Who nicked the rest of the mash?”

Meanwhile one quipped: “Came up short with the mash, a bit like their trophies.” But despite the huge backlash at the Emirates’ food offerings, it’s not the first time Arsenal‘s match day menu has left fans raging, as reported by What’s The Jam.

In 2023, the club was slammed for charging £14 for a handful of chicken wings — a move that left fans stunned as they hit out at the organisers for allegedly making a quick buck. A year earlier the Gunners were blasted for charging over £24 for a sandwich meal deal.

And in 2021, the north London club were called out, with similar accusations of overcharging customers for low-quality food. This came after Arsenal has been blasted for asking supporters to pay £18.05 for burger and chips.

However, Arsenal’s overcharging of fans is the least of the club’s worries after it was sanctioned by the FA for not offering enough away tickets for its clash with Manchester United back in January. The suspended fine, totalling £500,000, was slapped onto club by the FA on Friday (October 10) on for violating FA Cup Rule 192 during their third round tie at the beginning of the year.

According to the rulebook, away teams are owed around 15% of the tickets available for each match during the course of the season. As a result, the Red Devils were due to receive some 9,000 tickets but were only allocated 7,956 when the whistle blew for kick-off.

Arsenal explained that they were forced to reduce the number of tickets available for health and safety concerns, but admitted mistakes had been made as many of the tickets for away fans were allocated for the upper tier of the stadium, a move blocked by FA rules. They added that the layout of the Emirates also means that 9,000 away fans cannot all be situated in the lower tier, leading to a dispute over the remaining 1,000 seats.
