All you need to know about Kevin Sinfield’s 7 in 7: Together Challenge

  • Rugby union icon Kevin Sinfield, the skills and kicking coach for the England national team, will begin his next fundraising mission in Suffolk today.
  • Sinfield, 45, from Oldham, who played for Leeds Rhinos, England and Great Britain, is tackling seven ultra-marathons in seven days to raise money for people affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND), inspired by the loss of his former team-mate Rob Burrows.
  • His new challenge started in Bury St Edmunds today and end in Ipswich. He set off at Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club at 8.40am and hopes to be at Ipswich School by 2.15pm.
  • From Ipswich School, he will take part in a one-mile run alongside people living with MND, heading to Ipswich Town’s Portman Road stadium for 3pm.
  • This is the first leg of his 7 in 7: Together challenge and is in support of former Ipswich Town striker Marcus Stewart, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2022.
  • After completing the first leg in Ipswich, Sinfield will head to Ireland, before going to Swansea in Wales for leg three, the hills of South Yorkshire for challenge four, and in the Cumbria countryside and part of Scotland respectively for legs five and six.
  • Sinfield and his team then return to Leeds for the first time since 2023 and the passing of Burrow last year. This will start in North Yorkshire before culminating at AMT Headingley Rugby Stadium.
