- Paul Doyle, 54, was diagnosed as having PTSD while on remand ahead of his trial. He dramatically pleaded guilty to 17 charges of attempting to cause GBH with intent on its opening day last week. He also admitted nine of causing GBH with intent, three of wounding with intent, dangerous driving and affray
- Prosecutors said the IT consultant, of Croxteth, Liverpool, lost his temper and drove his Ford Galaxy into crowds on May 26 injuring 134, including children.
- As the PTSD is said to have been caused by his own actions during the horror, he may not have been able to use it as a trial defence. But a judge could now consider it when sentencing.
- A source said: “He’s pretty likely to be moved to a secure hospital unit once he’s sentenced. His life there would be much more comfortable than in prison as he’d be treated as a patient.”
