Three faculty youngsters in ‘kidnap try’ as man ‘performing suspiciously’ arrested

A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap after allegedly approaching three school-aged children in Ashington, Northumberland over the weekend

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap after allegedly approaching three schoolchildren. Police were alerted to suspicious activity on a street in Ashington, in Northumberland over the weekend.

The authorities received a report that a man had allegedly approached three school-aged children on Sycamore Street. The incident reportedly occurred around 2.20pm on Saturday.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the report. He’s been released on bail while investigations continue. A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “Shortly after 2.20pm on Saturday (November 29), we received a report of suspicious activity on Sycamore Street in Ashington. Officers attended where it was reported a man had approached three school-aged children who were walking together.

“A 35-year-old man was arrested at the scene in connection with the report on suspicion of attempted kidnap. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries, with strict conditions not to enter Ashington.”, reports Chronicle Live.

“An investigation is under way and additional patrols are being carried out. Anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak with an officer on duty.”
