Lancashire college bus crash as a number of youngsters injured after roof ripped off
Several children have reportedly been been left injured after a school bus had its roof ripped off in a horror smash.
The terrifying incident occurred on Spendmore Lane, in Coppull, Lancashire. earlier today (December 3) at around 12:30pm and prompted a huge presence from emergency services.
The double-decker was seen colliding with a low bridge with video and images highlighting the impact of the crash.
Part of the school bus’s roof can be seen laid partly on the road and near the grass verge just before the bridge.
Police confirmed that multiple children had been injured but the believe them to be only “minor”. The latest on the children is they are being assed by paramedics.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said “We were called at just after 12.30pm today to a report that a school bus had struck a bridge on Spendmore Lane, Coppull.
“Emergency services are at the scene, and a road closure is in place, while we deal with the incident.
“The passengers have been safely taken off the bus. A number of children suffered injuries which are thankfully thought to be relatively minor at this time, and they are being assessed by paramedics.”

The horror crash also caught the attention of people on social media. One user said: “A double decker bus has driven under the bridge and the full roof has been ripped off! Hope everyone involved is ok.”
Another commented: “Hope all the children are okay and everyone involved. I saw all the sirens going past work and knew something bad must have happened.”
On social media, Chorley Police also addressed the incident: “Good Afternoon, we want to update you and let you know that Spendmore Lane is currently closed from the junction of Lancaster Street to Regent Street to due to a road traffic collision.
“We anticipate that the road will be closed for some time, whilst we assess the situation. In the meantime, we’d recommend looking for an alternative route and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.
“We’ll keep tabs on what’s happening and we’ll update you here once the road is open. As always, thank you for your patience and stay safe if you’re out and about today.”
