Brit blokes reckon they might rating previous a Premier League goalie or land a airplane

New findings have shockingly revealed that chaps have a tendency to inflate the skills they are capable of – with half also thinking they could get a ball past a premier league goalkeeper.

Millions of British blokes believe they could score a winning goal against a premier league goalkeeper. A whopping 50% said they were so confident with their amateur footballing skills they could get one in the back of the net.

Recent findings from market researchers Ipsos found men were much more likely than women to exaggerate their skills.

They also found fellas were generally more confident in their capabilities across various tasks than women. Other talents that a third of chaps believe they possess include being able to land a plane, despite having no flight training.

Some 36% of men think that they could land a passenger plane if guided by air traffic control in an emergency, compared to 24% of women.

And 16% of blokes believe that they could complete a marathon without training, compared to 9% of women.

Whilst two in ten say they could compete in a Formula 1 Grand Prix without crashing, compared to 9% of women.

When it comes to politics, nearly one in four (39%) of Britons think they could do a better job than Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.

And around one in three believe they could do a better job than Chancellor Rachel Reeves (35%), Prime Minister Keir Starmer (34%), and Leader of the Opposition Kemi Badenoch (32%).

Ipsos Research Director Peter Cooper said: “What stands out in our latest research is that men consistently exhibit higher confidence in their capabilities, which raises questions about the underlying factors contributing to this disparity.

“Are societal norms and traditional gender roles continuing to influence self-perception? It’s intriguing to note how even in tasks traditionally perceived as gender-neutral, these differences persist.”
