Jacket potato van praised for giving free meals to homeless in heart-warming video

Zak Bevis’ kind-hearted gesture to help those in need during the winter months has been lauded by users after he went out of his way to make sure homeless people did not go hungry

The owner of a jacket potato van has been commended by social media users after giving homeless people free food to make sure they were not going hungry.

Zak Bevis’ kind-hearted gesture to help those in need during the winter months has won him an army online fans after he went out of his way to make sure they were fed a hot meal after a video racked up millions of views.

One clip shows a homeless woman slowly come up to his Zaketpotatos van, stationed at the side of the road in Norwich. There, the woman can be seen freezing and shaking in the cold, but seemingly too shy to ask for food.

Eventually, the woman musters enough courage to ask Zak for a jacket potato. In response, the kind man accepts her request and rustles up a jacket potato all for her, as she is seen smiling while he prepares the meal.

He eventually can be seen sorting the meal, dousing it in cheese and curry sauce before giving it to the woman. She is seen beaming with smiles as Zak is happily giving her some much-needed food to get her through the cold months.

After giving her the potato, he then asks: “Do you need a drink?” before giving her a coke for free. Unable to deal with his generosity, the woman consistently says thank you as he prepares the meal for her.

Zak says in response: “Listen, you’re fine. The people of Norwich are paying for this. Bless your heart.”

Uploading the video to his Instagram page, Zak penned in the caption: “Word is spreading about Norwich; this woman heard from others experiencing homelessness that you can get a free meal here. She was nervous to ask but left with a smile, a hot meal, and a drink.”

Zak’s comments section was filled with people praising him for his kind gesture to the woman. One person said: “The dignity he gave her too, love this.”

A second added: “She asked, she didn’t expect. Beautiful that. Well done.” Whilst a third chimed in: “Bless you; you can see she’s so worried about taking up space — we need so much more kindness, love and understanding in the world.”

Zak’s generosity for free food to those sleeping rough is well-known around Norwich, but he also likes to extend this kindness to others who are struggling. He also has posted videos helping him give food away to the elderly and others who may be vulnerable in the town.
