Horror scenes at UK petrol station as man seen with axe earlier than fireplace engulfs vehicles
A huge fire ripped through a petrol station in Hampshire with cars engulfed in dramatic moments caught on camera – a man has since been arrested on suspicion of arson
Shocking video footage has captured the terrifying moment a fierce blaze engulfs vehicles at a petrol station after a man was seen with an axe. Emergency services raced to the BP Garage on Broom Way, Lee-on0the-Solent, Hampshire just after 11.15am yesterday (December 4).
Eyewitnesses described how local builders manage to stop the man, stating that the scene was like “something from a movie.” Nick Lawrence lives opposite the petrol station and told ITV: “The smoke was blowing towards the house. I thought if the whole garage goes up then something to happen to the house and us.”
A man was found with serious burn injuries to his hands, legs and airway. South Central Ambulance Service took him to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth for further treatment.
Police arrested the man on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. No other injuries have been reported.
